Balrog of Moria
One of the most terrifying creatures in The Lord of the Rings is the Balrog of Moria, a creature of flame and darkness that nearly destroys the Fellowship of the Ring.
Through the years, fans have debated whether the Balrog has real wings. But many people don't understand that the "wings" are merely the darkness surrounding the Balrog as it takes on a wing-like shape to intimidate the members of the Fellowship.
